MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Two highly popular games—Candy Crush and Animal Crossing—are getting some company.
It seems millions of people are flocking to Grow a Garden, a viral Roblox game centered around gardening.
Grow a Garden has achieved remarkable success, surpassing the number of concurrent players of any game in history, surpassing even video games that require years and millions of dollars in development. There’s no shooting, fighting, or racing. Players can cultivate a plot of land with plants and animals, harvest and sell, trade, or even steal each other’s bounty.
The game’s low-stress nature and aesthetic reminiscent of Minecraft, complemented by a relaxing soundtrack featuring classical music like Mozart, have contributed to its widespread appeal. This popularity has further solidified Roblox’s position not only within the gaming industry but also in popular culture.
To embark on the gardening journey, players must create an account.
YouTube Age Guessing Feature
YouTube has announced its intention to implement artificial intelligence-powered technology to assist in identifying users under the age of 18. This new tool is trained to determine a user’s age based on the types of videos they watch and search for, and not just using the birthday associated with their account. If the technology incorrectly identifies a user as a minor, additional measures will be taken to regulate the content they consume. Conversely, if the technology makes an error, users will have the option to verify their age through methods such as using a government-issued identification card or credit card. YouTube has indicated that it will conduct testing of this tool before making it accessible to a broader audience.
How Adults are Using AI
Regarding artificial intelligence, recent polling conducted over a five-day period involving approximately 1,500 individuals suggests that most adults are primarily utilizing AI for information retrieval purposes, rather than for drafting emails, work-related tasks, or shopping. Younger adults, in particular, have demonstrated a higher propensity to use AI for work-related purposes and brainstorming.
Overall, 60% of adults reported using AI for information retrieval at least some of the time. Additionally, 16% of adults utilized AI for companionship, 26% for shopping, and 30% for entertainment.
