Thanks to an invitation from EA, we had the opportunity to travel to Los Angeles, California to try out the new release from Battlefield Studios (Criterion, DICE, Motive, and Ripple Effect) firsthand, a title that promises a return to the gritty modern military setting that defined iconic games such as Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4. The development team, which spans studios in Stockholm and around the world, has elevated the aesthetics and gameplay to unprecedented levels, offering a unique experience that will undoubtedly shake up the competition with Battlefield 6.
The core of the gameplay
The design of this installment features a new focus on adjusting combat and vehicle controls, ensuring that destruction is once again at the core of the game.
Battlefield 6 introduces a series of improvements designed to immerse players even further in the chaos of war. New animations and the impressive combat system respond to the player’s movements on the battlefield. The game even emphasizes that vehicles can truly change the course of battle.
The revamped class system is designed with an “iconic formula” that provides a clear matrix for player roles. Players can expect specialized classes such as Assault, which is capable of withstanding blinding enemy attacks, and Engineer, which is indispensable for countering tanks and helicopters. The Officer class, on the other hand, is crucial for keeping squads in the fight, while the Recon serves as a tactical master, providing vital intelligence and precise sniper support to eliminate threats from a distance. Recon units can also designate targets, guiding allied missiles toward the target.

One of the most significant innovations is the Kinesthetic Combat System, which reimagines hand-to-hand combat from the ground up. This system offers a wide range of fluid options, emphasizing teamwork and squad play. Players will find that their shooting and destruction mechanics are closely tied to this new system. A good example is the new “Drag and Revive” mechanic, which allows players to carry their teammates to safety while reviving them, even in dangerous scenarios. Movement options have also been expanded, allowing players to crouch while sprinting to escape enemy fire.
The vehicle controls have been redesigned to be more responsive and intuitive, ensuring that driving these war machines feels natural and impactful.
One of the core features of the game is that this new Battlefield represents a new generation of destruction, as the environment is deformed even more dynamically and realistically, allowing players to collapse floors for strategic attacks or create new paths to outmaneuver opponents.

Maps, modes, and details of the open beta
Battlefield 6 will feature a wide variety of maps and modes, including the return of the classic Battlefield 3 Operation Firestorm, reimagined to be smaller and more intense in close combat. All modes will feature custom designs, rigorously tested to ensure an exciting and authentic experience. The game will also include “war trifecta modes,” which promise unforgettable combat moments.
In addition, a more powerful version of Battlefield Portal will be available, allowing creators to update their tools, build, share, and play custom-made experiences with improved rule sets.
Battlefield 6 will be released on October 10. However, there will be an open beta available for two weekends: August 9–10 and August 14–17, with no pre-registration required. On August 7 and 8, an early access period will begin to sign up for Battlefield Labs and obtain codes from select streamers.
