Perfect new club named for Jack Grealish as Man City outcast warned off Premier League move

Napoli could be the ideal next destination for Jack Grealish when he leaves Manchester City.

That’s according to fellow former Aston Villa star Gabby Agbonlahor, who has opposed the idea of the winger joining Everton this summer.

talkSPORT understands that Grealish has accepted his career at City is over following a decline in his impact over the past two seasons.

He was omitted from their Club World Cup squad and with two years left on his deal at the Etihad Stadium, he’s set for a departure.

Everton are understood to still be interested in Grealish, whose wages at City are around £300,000-a-week. West Ham are also admirers of the player.

Away from England, Serie A champions Napoli are also among his admirers, and Agbonlahor believes they could be a good exit route for him.

“You look at West Ham, you look at could he go abroad to a Napoli, to a team in Serie A,” he said on Drive. “I’d like him to go abroad, like a Napoli.

“Not yet [to Saudi Arabia]… I was going to say he won’t make that World Cup squad, but Ivan Toney [Al Hilal] got a call-up, didn’t he?

“I would love him to go to a team like Napoli. I look at what [Scott] McTominay is doing there, Billy Gilmour.

“There’s been a lot of players that have gone abroad, look at what [Jadon] Sancho did at [Borussia] Dortmund, Jude Bellingham as well.”

West Ham registered their interest in signing Grealish earlier in July and talkSPORT understands they remain keen on the 29-year-old.

But the prospect of a switch to Everton is not one that Agbonlahor would back ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

“Everton… I think it could be frustrating if they don’t improve that squad,” Agbonlahor added.

“And in pre-season, they’ve been terrible.”

Would Everton’s new stadium attract Grealish?

Everton will play their home games at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium this coming season after an emotional exit from Goodison Park.

Its capacity stands at 52,769 and marks the next chapter in their 147-year history.

However, Agbonlahor doesn’t believe the excitement of playing for a club with a new stadium would spark interest from Grealish.

“I don’t think [it would affect] a player when they’ve played at the top like he has.

“I can imagine a player that hasn’t played at the top, ‘Oh exciting, a new stadium.’

“But when you’ve played for Man City and you’ve won the treble, so many trophies, I don’t think it would bother him.”

Grealish signed for City from Villa in a deal worth £100million, which at the time was a record transfer for a British player.

However, it’s still the most expensive signing made by Pep Guardiola across the total €2b he has spent throughout his career.

The winger, who has earned 39 caps for England, has scored 17 goals and assisted another 23 in 157 appearances for City.

Grealish has won three Premier League titles at the club alongside the Champions League and FA Cup from their treble win in 2023.
