‘If Ant and Dec show up next, we’ll need a red carpet’

A shop owner has been left delighted with another brush with fame – after a TV host turned up at her door for the second time this year.

Hansa Ratanji, who runs Newsrack in Grove Green with her husband Arvind, welcomed presenter Stephen Mulhern.

Mulhern, 48, is best known for hosting Catchphrase and Deal or No Deal and happily posed for pictures with manager Sara Wiles.

Shop owner Hansa Ratanji told KentOnline: “Since we took over last July, there’s been one famous face after another! Bradley Walsh dropped in before Mother’s Day, so we’re assuming he sent Stephen our way.

“Honestly, if Ant and Dec show up next, we’ll need a red carpet.

“As expected, Stephen was absolutely lovely – just as warm in person as he is on screen.

“The whole team’s now taking bets on who’ll be next.

“Massive thanks to Stephen for supporting small, independent shops like ours – it really does make a difference.”

In March, The Chase’s Bradley Walsh was snapped in the store with members of staff.

Arvind and Hansa took over the shop last year, after more than 30 years under its previous management.

Brother and sister Deepak Myangar and Neela Kuntawala and Deepak’s wife Usha set up the business, which is next to the Tesco Superstore, in 1990 after they migrated from Zambia.
