The 1,800-seat covered theatre has been constructed in the grounds of Hever Castle, in Edenbridge, which is a popular attraction and the former home of Henry VIII’s second ill-fated wife.

It will house the new show, which takes audiences on Anne’s journey, sharing details from her personal story and revealing her ambitions that ultimately led her to the heart of Tudor Court life.

The story starts with Anne’s emotional farewell to her family home at Hever Castle and follows her to the courts of Flanders and France and, finally, her fatal romance with the King of England.

It’s been created and staged by Historalia Productions and West End performer Emily Lane, who has appeared in Frozen and Hello Dolly in London, will play the former Queen. She will be joined by a 35-strong community cast with actors from across Kent.

The month-long production is the first outdoor show in the country to feature binaural sound, creating a 3D audio experience with each audience member having their own personal headset to fully immerse them in the story and score.

“Historalia have earned a reputation for fantastic and memorable spectacles, and so the opportunity to host Anne Boleyn: The Musical was something we couldn’t resist,” says Duncan Leslie, Hever Castle’s chief executive.

“We look forward to welcoming long-time fans of Hever as well as many newcomers, offering them a not-to-be-missed, West End-calibre performance at one of England’s best-loved locations.

“For just four weeks in August, we get to see this extraordinary production being staged at Hever for the one and only time, and so my message is to see it before it is gone forever!”

Anne Boleyn: The Musical will be at Hever Castle in Edenbridge from Saturday, August 2 to Saturday, August 30. You can book tickets online here.

Theatre tickets do not include admission to the castle.
