In this era of gaming, paying $80 sounds outrageous for buying games. It’s easy to point a finger at Nintendo, as they started this trend in 2025. However, it might come as a surprise to you, this isn’t the first time gamers have been charged $80 for video games.
As wild as it sounds, it was actually true back in 1995. Back then, there were many games that were expensive. And modern games look much cheaper comparatively. Additionally, if inflation is accounted for, then in modern standards it’s $169.
Imagine paying that much for modern games in 2025, but again, some games do make that much money with each copy with microtransactions. If all this sounds unbelievable, please lock your seat belts. You’re up for a ride.
