Sarina Wiegman’s side are the underdogs for the match, which is a repeat of the 2023 World Cup Final and have already gone 1-0 down.

Reporting from The Pippin in Maidstone, Dee Lukasik says England fans there remain optimistic despite the early setback.

The match comes five days after the team won in dramatic fashion following two late goals from Michelle Agyemang Chloe Kelly in the semi-final against Italy on Tuesday.

Leading the line for England today is Maidstone-born Alessia Russo.

The 26-year-old Arsenal striker went to East Farleigh Primary and St Simon Stock Secondary and played with Bearsted FC in the early stages of her career.

Russo also played youth football for West Farleigh before being scouted by Charlton Athletic, and later signing for Arsenal following stints at Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea and Manchester United.
