Horror Inc. has confirmed that a sequel to 2017’s Friday the 13th video game is currently in development. This announcement follows months of ongoing rumors about the Friday the 13th franchise receiving another game adaptation.
In 2024, Horror Inc., the owner of the Friday the 13th IP, announced its plans to expand the highly popular slasher franchise through different forms of media, including games. Under the Jason Universe banner, the company revealed working with the original Friday the 13th film’s screenwriter, Victor Miller, to bring multiple projects to life. In May 2025, a recent licensing agreement suggested that a new Friday the 13th game might be in the plans. The rumors have now officially been confirmed by the creator of Jason Universe.

Friday The 13th: 10 Scariest Versions Of Jason Voorhees
Jason Voorhees has seen many reincarnations in the Friday The 13th movies, with some becoming iconic for how scary the character can be.
Speaking at the San Diego Comic-Con 2025 (via Bloody Disgusting), Horror Inc. Executive Vice President Robbie Barsamian announced that the successor to Friday the 13th: The Game, alongside a sequel to 2009’s Friday the 13th film, were “at the top of our list.” Suggesting that work on these projects was well underway, he continued, “It’s where most of our energy’s going right now.” Moreover, Barsamian, who was also one of the executive producers for the original game, said that even though a full-fledged announcement alongside partners was yet to come, both projects were “in the works” and were coming.
Friday the 13th Game Sequel Officially in Development
The announcement of a new Jason Voorhees game should come as a relief to fans of Friday the 13th: The Game, which has gradually been ditched by its devs over the past couple of years. At the end of 2023, the survival horror game was delisted from stores, making the game inaccessible for potential buyers. As the succeeding year also wrapped up, the online server support for Friday the 13th: The Game was discontinued, forcing players who still owned a copy to play offline with bots. Given that there is little to no information about the sequel yet, it seems fair to assume that its release may still be a long time away. However, the project’s confirmation alone provides something to look forward to for fans of the first game.
In the meantime, horror buffs can turn their attention to a slew of different horror games slated for release in the near future. Whether it be Bloober Team’s Cronos: The New Dawn or the Japan-centric Silent Hill game, there is a good amount of variety set to arrive for fans of the highly celebrated genre in 2025. In the following year, Resident Evil Requiem is one major horror release that enthusiasts would want to keep an eye out for.
