Dying Light: The Beast Delayed to September

Dying Light: The Beast has been delayed to now release on September 19 this year. The original release was set for August 22, so the delay pushes the game back about four weeks. When talking about the move, the Dying Light blog says that the extra time will give Techland the needed time to put the finishing polish on the game before it’s out in the public.

“With just four additional weeks, we can address final details that make all the difference between good and great. Areas we want to improve include finetuning the balance of gameplay elements, looking into clarity of UI, increasing the quality of physics, as well as tweaking cutscenes and player animations further as well as adding last little details.”

Is the Dying Light: The Beast Delay Worrying?

That explanation for the Dying Light: The Beast delay this close to release is pretty common in the gaming world. The one missing element here that they didn’t mention is the presence of bugs, which will likely be hammered out a little more with the extra month of work as well. In short, though, a short delay of four weeks this close to launch is not something worth worrying about when it comes to the expected condition of the game at release. If the delay had been closer to three-plus months, that would have been a different story.

Dying Light: The Beast brings back the series’ original protagonist Kyle Crane, who in the original Dying Light, ended that story with being injected with DNA that made him a “beast” with much of the physical prowess of the undead creatures that haunt the world. Since the sequel, Dying Light 2: Stay Human, went away from Crane as the playable character, many likely assumed that he was gone for good, but Techland couldn’t get away from Roger Craig Smith’s beautiful voice.

Like in the past, the duality of day and night will be at play in Dying Light: The Beast. During the day, zombies are more docile, and you have a better chance to scavenge while parkouring around the place. The bigger threat here will be human enemies. When night falls, the undead become much more aggressive, with the volatiles hunting you down. Don’t worry, though, you don’t have to go at it alone. Dying Light: The Beast will have up to four player co-op, so bring your friends in and explore this wilderness world and fight to survive.
