Xbox Game Pass Contributed To 'An All-Time High' For Subscription Spending Last Month (US)

Circana’s Mat Piscatella has shared another interesting update on how the gaming industry performed for the month of June 2025 (in the US), and it’s another good bit of news for subscriptions services like Xbox Game Pass.

In June, non-mobile video game subscription spending reached an all-time high for a single month – at $562 million. This is a 32% increase on the same month last year, which looks like a pretty healthy jump all things considered.

Piscatella added that Circana “doesn’t offer public breakdowns” of how how much money specific services are bringing in, but Xbox Game Pass will have significantly contributed to these numbers either way. Interesting, one game-specific sub saw a “surprising bump” – in-part thanks to that Battlefront 2 popularity surge we saw recently.

Anyway, this follows on from another success story for video game subscriptions last month, so all-in-all, it sounds as though services like these are are performing pretty well here in 2025. Maybe, just maybe, it’s because folks aren’t willing to continually spend $80 on video games.
