Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Hit with Many Negative Reviews Due to Performance on Steam

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is the latest souls-like game to hit the market, but where you often see people praising games like this, the Steam version in particular is being heavily criticized for performance issues. Currently, the game’s Steam page shows a Mostly Negative rating. Declarations of unstable frame drops, just okay visuals, and complaints of Unreal Engine 5 are rampant in the posted reviews.

Is Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Bad on PC?

From what we have seen, people seem to enjoy Wuchang: Fallen Feathers for the most part, but the performance on PC with everyone’s various set-ups seems to be lacking, which isn’t necessarily an uncommon problem for PC games. Currently, the game is sitting at 75 on multiple review aggregator sites. In other words, the game is in no way in contention for a Game of the Year discussion, but it seems to be a solid enough experience to be called a good game.

I’m not going to pretend to know the ins and outs of all the terminology people are throwing out associated with video game performance, but after reading through just some of the current over 10,000 reviews, people generally are upset with a lack of optimization. Even positive reviews of the game from players who have enjoyed their time in the combat and story regardless of the issues mention that they have the same problems. One review did say they had a good time on Steam Deck, though the scarcity of that system in the public doesn’t do much to assuage people trying to play on their desktop.

As mentioned above, issues with PC gaming aren’t necessarily a rare occurrence for new titles, though it’s not like consoles like the Nintendo Switch 2 are exempt from it. From the looks of things, if you are a souls-like fan and want to jump into Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, we would recommend waiting a little bit before putting your money towards it. Eventually, the game will receive performance updates that make it run better on more systems. In the meantime, maybe focus on one of the hundreds of games collecting dust in your digital library.
