Why Buy The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14?
Build
In typical Zephyrus fashion, the design remains unchanged from its previous few generations, which isn’t a con, as the old design is quite timeless. The overall weight and thickness have increased ever so slightly over the last generation’s G14. It’s still the same premium-feeling metal exterior with a lightbar across the back in line with the gamer aesthetics. In terms of I/O, you get an HDMI 2.1 port, two USB-A ports, and two USB-C ports, with one being USB 4.0 while the other supports DisplayPort. There’s a 3.5mm audio jack and a microSD slot as well.

Display
The screen on the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is a stunner with its 2880×1800 resolution on an OLED panel. This is a massive step-up from the previous generation’s IPS and mini-LED panels. The near-infinite contrast of the OLED panel makes colors pop out of the screen with the darkest blacks. The screen could have been brighter, as the peak brightness of 400 nits can struggle in well-lit areas. The 120Hz refresh rate allows for a smooth user experience, and games can leverage it for fluid frames.
Processor
The AMD Ryzen 9 270 is at the heart of the laptop, which is basically a rebranded Ryzen 9 8945HS processor that’s based on the Zen 4 architecture. You will need to step up to a Ryzen 7 350 for the latest Zen 5 architecture, but it’s not worth the performance gain. That being said, you will be able to run any modern title on this laptop without the processor breaking a sweat. Even daily tasks and more professional workloads aren’t going to bother this beast.

Gaming
Powering the device is Nvidia’s newest Blackwell GPU, catering to the midrange segment, the RTX 5060. This performs on par with last generation’s RTX 4060Ti, but the 8GB of GDDR7 VRAM holds the GPU back. Gaming in 1080p with medium to high settings is where the sweet spot is, and bumping the resolution will force you to utilize Nvidia’s AI-powered upscaling and frame generation technology, DLSS 4. However, DLSS has come a long way and has more than acceptable performance, allowing users to push their laptops to the limit and squeeze out more life.
