Tottenham’s Under-21 side were in action against Leyton Orient in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday, and the side selected for the game has shed light on who is likely to feature against Luton Town and which youngsters Thomas Frank wants to keep as a part of his first-team.
Several young starlets impressed in Tottenham’s first pre-season friendly of the summer against Reading, none more so than Luka Vuskovic, who had a dream Spurs debut with a goal and an assist.
Alfie Devine and Mikey Moore also started the game, while the likes of Will Lankshear and Jamie Donley played in the second half, with Lankshear opening the scoring for the Lilywhites.
However, some of those players have also featured for Wayne Burnett’s men at Brisbane Road on Tuesday, thus perhaps making them unlikely to feature against Luton Town on Saturday.
Some big names feature for Tottenham’s Under-21s
The Spurs academy side suffered a 3-1 loss to the O’s yesterday, and the team selected for the game included some very interesting names.
Lanskhear and Donley were both included in the team, as were the likes of Yang Min-Hyeok and Dane Scarlett, neither of whom featured against Reading.
Curiously, the Spurs Under-21 side, which was captained by George Abbott, did not include Ashley Phillips, who also did not play against Reading last Saturday.
Here’s how our Under-21s line up in tonight’s pre-season friendly at Leyton Orient (7.45pm KO) 📋

Has Thomas Frank just sent a big hint about Alfie Devine?
It is very interesting to note that Devine started against Reading, but was not part of the squad against Leyton Orient, while Donley, who many expected to make the step up to the first-team this season, did feature against the O’s.
That suggests that Devine is ahead of Donley in the pecking order for Frank and his coaching staff, with the former Wigan youngster potentially having impressed the new coaching staff in pre-season training.
Alasdair Gold has said that this season could be make or break for Devine at Spurs, and the attacking midfielder will be keen to grab his chance if he plays again against Luton.
However, Tottenham Hotspur have now announced a unique double header of pre-season friendlies on Saturday. Spurs will take on Wycombe Wanderers at 11 am before facing Luton Town at 3 pm. Therefore, we could see a huge blend of 20-30 Spurs players in the mix over the weekend.
