Tottenham Hotspur’s move for a Premier League centre-back is now gathering steam, with a new report suggesting that the Lilywhites’ offer for the player could be accepted.
It first emerged over the weekend that Tottenham are ready to make a big offer for Illiya Zabarnyi, and since then, we have heard contradictory updates regarding the transfer pursuit
Fabrizio Romano said on his YouTube channel that Spurs have not made a concrete move for the Bournemouth man, but this has been contradicted by other sources.
This includes an update by Duncas Castles, who asserted that Tottenham have already made a bid of €70m (£60.6m) for Zabarnyi, who is also being targeted by Paris Saint-Germain.
Bournemouth may find it hard to turn down Tottenham’s offer for Illia Zabarnyi
A new update from Football Insider has now claimed that Spurs have emerged as the clear frontrunners to land the Ukraine international.
The report asserts that despite PSG’s interest in the 22-year-old, the Lilywhites are now advancing on a deal for the Cherries star.
Andoni Iraola’s men do not want to lose Zabarnyi after the departures of Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid and Milos Kerkez to Liverpool.
However, it is explained that the South Coast club would find it difficult to turn down offers in excess of £60m for the young centre-back.
Tottenham are not Zabarnyi’s preferred destination
It was reported by TBR Football a couple of days ago that Zabarnyi would prefer to join PSG over Spurs this summer.
The same information was backed up by Sky Sports reporter Luca Bendoni, who revealed that while the Parisians have not met Bournemouth’s asking price, Zabarnyi has already indicated a desire to move to the French capital.
It thus looks like Thomas Frank’s men may have some work to do to convince the Ukrainian to come to N17.
