PA Gaming Control Board Levies Two Fines Totaling $70,000 – PennWatch

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board approved two consent agreements  presented by its Office of Enforcement Counsel resulting in total fines of $70,000.

The fines were levied against:

  • Betfair Interactive US LLC, d/b/a Fanduel, a $40,000 fine for its failure to license several employees; and,
  • Sugarhouse HSP Gaming LP, operator of Rivers Philadelphia Casino, a $30,000 fine for 2 instances of allowing persons under the legal gaming age of 21 to access the gaming floor and gamble.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board took actions to place 7 individuals on its various Involuntary Exclusion Lists. Placement on an Involuntary Exclusion List prohibits individuals from either gaming in a casino in Pennsylvania, via an online betting site regulated by the Board, or a Video Gaming Terminal location.

The actions by the Board today include placement of 5 individuals on the Involuntary Casino Exclusion List, including a female patron who left two minors ages 8 and 9 in a hotel room at Hollywood Casino at the Meadows for 7 hours and 41 minutes in order to gamble at table games.

Actions such as these to deny statewide gambling privileges serve as a reminder that adults are prohibited from leaving minors unattended in the parking lot or garage, a hotel, or other venues at a casino since it creates a potentially unsafe and dangerous environment for the children. To complement the efforts by casinos to mitigate this issue, the Board created an awareness campaign, “Don’t Gamble with Kids”.

Additionally, 2 others were placed on the Board’s Involuntary Interactive Gaming Exclusion list for fraudulent actions involving online gambling.
