A £40m Tottenham Hotspur transfer target has now left his club’s training camp, amid transfer interest from Spurs and another Premier League duo.
Tottenham Hotspur could yet add a striker before the end of the summer, as Thomas Frank continues to reshape his Spurs squad ahead of his first season in charge.
Yoanne Wissa has been linked with a move to Tottenham, following a prolific 19-goal season for the Bees in the Premier League.
Wissa, who can also operate on either wing, is understood to be open to a Spurs move, with reports indicating that he would welcome the chance to work under Frank once again.
Yoanne Wissa leaves Brentford camp amid Tottenham transfer links
According to BBC Sport, Yoanne Wissa has now left Brentford’s pre-season training camp in Portugal, with fresh doubt surrounding his immediate future.
It is believed that the forward has grown unsettled by the transfer noise around him, with Tottenham, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest all reported to be in the race for his signature.
A crucial meeting is expected to take place in London between Wissa and Brentford’s Director of Football Phil Giles.
It is thought that personal terms would not be a stumbling block for either Tottenham Hotspur or Newcastle United, although the Magpies are currently believed to be stepping up their pursuit.
Wissa could be on the move with just 12 months left on Brentford contract
Wissa is now entering the final year of his current deal, and Brentford face the very real risk of losing him on a free transfer next summer if an agreement cannot be reached.
The forward has already watched Bryan Mbeumo complete his switch to Manchester United this month – another forward Tottenham had previously been keen on bringing to North London.
Wissa turns 29 in September, and Brentford are reportedly open to cashing in on the forward, who is not believed to be interested in signing a new contract. A fee in the region of £40 million is expected to be considered by the West London club.
