Tottenham still interested in Premier League centre-back who is cheaper than Illia Zabarnyi

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a potential move for Bournemouth’s Illia Zabarnyi, but Marc Guehi is a name that keeps being mentioned in the same breath as Spurs.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a couple of defenders this summer window, and that has led Spurs fans to wonder if Thomas Frank is eyeing up the use of a back three in the upcoming season.

Rumours have it that Tottenham have shown interest in £60m Illia Zabarnyi in the past few days, although they face competition from Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain.

Spurs are also said to be keeping tabs on Giorgio Scalvini this summer, as Atalanta are reported to be willing to part ways with the centre-back this summer.

Tottenham retain interest in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi

The defensive links continue, with reports from the Telegraph now claiming that Tottenham retain an interest in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi this summer.

It is understood that while Spurs have retained interest in Guehi, it remains uncertain whether Tottenham will put in a bid for the defender.

Of course, links between the Palace man and Tottenham Hotspur are not entirely new, as Spurs put in a £70m bid for Guehi during the winter window, an offer that was swiftly rejected by the Eagles.

More recent reports linking Spurs with Guehi have mentioned a price tag closer to £50m this summer.

Guehi impressed during Crystal Palace’s FA Cup triumph

The English centre-back did have a standout campaign last term, as he led Crystal Palace to their first-ever piece of silverware, after they won the FA Cup 1-0 against Manchester City.

Marc Guehi was part of a resolute Palace defence that kept a clean sheet against Erling Haaland and company, helping his side to a historic win.

The 25-year-old would surely improve the defence of the Lilywhites should he join, as he would allow Frank and his coaching staff to line up with a back three when necessary.

However, with Spurs currently stacked with options at centre-back, it remains unlikely that a bid would go in for Guehi, as back in the winter, it was an injury crisis that led to an offer.
