After the release of Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3 earlier this year, you’re probably wondering what happened to the previous two games (in a meta sense). Strange Scaffold is set to rectify that with Pedalboard Games and Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 1: Re-Raptored, a match-3 metroidvania sequel to Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3, and a remake of the first game in the metafictional series.
The story for Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 1: Re-Raptored involves Henry Bayliss, a redneck scientist living deep in the Louisiana bayou. As these things go, Bayliss is up to something, so enters Jack Briar, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms’ best agent. Jack Briar must hurry to prevent the Bayliss disaster, explore a creepy mansion, and defeat anyone who gets in his way.
Like CRDM3, CRDM1 aims to address the current state of the industry while also exploring the looming culture of remakes and reboots in gaming. Not to mention the personal ramifications and messy challenges that come with it.
“I had so much fun helping CRDM3 over the finish line due to the energy the team had, pouring their creative labor into a game ABOUT that labor,” says Pedalboard Games’ head Colin McInerney. “Then [Strange Scaffold studio head] Xalavier Nelson Jr. offered to let Pedalboard create a sequel with near-total creative freedom. We were floored, and we can’t wait to get more CRDM into your hands!”
Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 1: Re-Raptored will launch on Steam on September 23.
