Neil Warnock threatens to fine Adel Taarabt for X-rated moment live on talkSPORT

Neil Warnock and Adel Taarabt were a match made in heaven and they reunited on talkSPORT on Tuesday morning.

But amongst the reminiscing about their time together, Warnock didn’t miss the chance to threaten Taarabt with a fine.

The pair combined for an incredible two years at QPR, with the legendary manager having a huge impact on the Moroccan’s career.

Taarabt became an EFL and Premier League cult hero between 2010 and 2012, gaining a reputation for his silky skills and flair.

He led QPR to the Championship title in 2011, winning Player of the Season after remarkably scoring 19 goals and providing 21 assists.

That season was a memorable one, and it wouldn’t have been possible for Taarabt if it weren’t for Warnock’s help.

Warnock has been outspoken about how he dealt with Taarabt, who was involved in many incidents during his time at QPR.

He once stormed out of Craven Cottage after being substituted at half-time and often had issues with his general conduct.

It meant he was handed many fines during his time in England, with Warnock sure to have given him a few himself.

And he couldn’t miss the opportunity to threaten Taarabt with another as they reunited on talkSPORT on Tuesday.

During his interview on-air, Taarabt swore multiple times as he chatted back and forth with his old boss and Jamie O’Hara.

And as he was saying goodbye, Warnock joked: “Next time you come on, will you watch your language or I’ll be fining you!”

His former star replied: “The people like you when you are natural, you have to speak normally.”

The funny exchange came after the pair spoke highly of eachother and the impact they had on each of their careers.

Warnock admitted there were ‘problems’ he had to deal with with Taarabt, but that he loved working with him.

“Thank you ever so much, you gave me one of the best years of my life and one of the biggest challenges I’ve ever had,” he said.

“I get people stopping me in the street thanking me for that year [2010/11], saying: ‘Adel, how good was he?’

“We had problems and you were hard work at times, but the pleasure that you gave me and the fans was fabulous.”

Taarabt paid his respect in reply, saying: “I think of you like my father, it will never change, so I can never forget what you did.”

Warnock helped to take the ex-Morocco international’s career to the next level, giving him a free role in the QPR side.

He admitted that he told the rest of the team to just pass the ball to Taarabt and let him do what he wanted to do.

“We used to say don’t bother him, the other 10 of you have to make sure we’re solid, just give him the ball and we’ll win games,” he said.

Taarabt also revealed: “When I wasn’t happy, he’d give me an extra day off, if I fought with a teammate, he would always defend me.”

Warnock made the skilful midfielder captain too, despite the rest of the QPR squad not being too happy about it.

The 76-year-old manager departed Loftus Road in 2012, with Taarabt remaining a QPR player for another three years after that.

However, he didn’t reach the heights that he had managed previously, being sent out on loan twice to Fulham and AC Milan.

He then left permanently in 2015 to Benfica, where he spent seven years and reignited his career, playing over 120 games.

Taarabt has since had spells at Genoa, Dubai-based team Al-Nasr, and now he still plays professionally for Sharjah in the UAE.
