Around 60 firefighters are tackling a “very visible” fire at a house under renovation next to a row of shops.
Eight fire engines have been called to Blackfen Road in Sidcup, near the junction with Boundary Road.

The whole of the ground floor, first floor and roof of a shop with flats above is alight.
Part of an adjacent roof is also alight.
The main road is shut in both directions and buses are being diverted while crews “make the scene safe”.
People are being advised to avoid the area due to the blaze which started just after 1pm.
Station Commander Steve Howlett, who is at the scene, said: “This is a very visible fire which is producing a significant amount of smoke in the area.
“Please keep your windows and doors closed if you live or work in the vicinity.
“We have one of our 32-metre turntable ladders being used as a water tower at the incident, to help tackle flames from height.”
Control officers have taken nearly 30 calls to the fire and crews from surrounding fire stations have been sent to the scene.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
