Video gambling machines are a common sight in Springfield, appearing in gas stations, bars, restaurants, and dedicated gaming parlors.

These machines are generating significant revenue for the city, with Springfield receiving 5% of the video gaming receipts, while the remainder is divided between the state and gaming operators.

In fiscal year 2024, Springfield’s share of the gaming machine revenue amounted to $2.47 million. The Office of Budget and Management projects the city will receive $2.44 million in 2025 and $2.45 million in 2026. According to Romona Metzger, Director of the Office of Budget and Management, all of this money is allocated to the Capital Improvement Fund and earmarked for road maintenance within the city limits.
