Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 took the gaming world by storm back in April, and now, even Marvel Cinematic Universe star and Gustave voice actor, Charlie Cox, might get into gaming for the first time in a long time just to play it. Clair Obscur features a star-studded cast, with Ben Starr, Jennifer English, Andy Sekris, and several others joining Cox to bring the game to life, and it now appears that, despite not being a gamer, Cox really wants to experience the game.
As part of a Q&A session during GalaxyCon, Cox was asked about Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and responded, “I need to play it” but established that he needs a gaming console first. Cox also noted that he’s very happy for developer Sandfall Interactive’s success because it’s a small studio. Cox, along with many fans, thinks Clair Obscur is the front-runner to win Game of the Year this year, which he also described as “really cool” (via GamesRadar+).
Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Is A Big Deal For Cox
Cox May Soon Become A Gamer
Cox previously admitted he “feels like a fraud” for not being a gamer or knowing much about the game, having only been in the recording booth for around four hours. Now, he wants a console just to play the game. Cox also touched on his experience recording Gustave’s voice lines, saying: “I remember being in the studio and thinking, ‘This is beautiful, the visuals are extraordinary.”

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Skyrockets As Early GOTY Contender With High Metacritic Score
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a game made by approximately 30 people, has shot to the second-highest place on Metacritic with a score of 91.
It’s been a long time since Cox has played a video game. Elaborating on his thoughts about the game’s stunning visuals, Cox also revealed the last game he played, stating: “They’ve come a long way since Mario 64,’ which is probably the last computer game I played.” Gustave is one of the game’s most beloved characters, so fans are probably happy that the Daredevil star wants to experience what fans have had the pleasure of playing.
Clair Is One Of The Biggest Games Of 2025
The Highest Rated Game Of The Year So Far

Excluding the Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom (which only have a handful of reviews and didn’t originally come out this year), Clair Obscur remains the highest-scored game of the year so far on Metacritic. Critics and fans have widely praised the game’s compelling narrative, interesting characters, unique turn-based battle system, voice performances, and stellar soundtrack.
Considering how great Clair Obscur is, I think Cox needs to get a gaming console as soon as possible to experience a game that has resonated with so much of the industry. Even though Cox is likely a very busy man, it seems like he wants to make some time in his schedule for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
