Xtreme Gaming tap xNova as stand-in after poloson gets sidelined by health issues | GosuGamers

It remains to be seen if Xtreme Gaming will still play with poloson in The International 2025 in September.

Iconic Chinese Dota 2 team Xtreme Gaming (XG) have made a significant roster change ahead of The International (TI) 2025. The team revealed that their position 5 support player, Wilson “poloson” Koh Chin, is dealing with health issues, particularly tendonitis, and will remain sidelined during his recovery.

In the meantime, renowned support player Jian Wei “xNova-” Yap will fill his position as the team gears up for the upcoming Clavision Masters 2025: Snow-Ruyi tournament in China.

“Due to the influence of tendonitis, the original Pos 5 player (poloson) will be unable to continue high-intensity training and competition in the short term and will temporarily rest from now on,” Xtreme Gaming announced on its social media.

“At the same time, we sincerely thank the experienced player (xNova) for taking on the task at this critical moment. He will join Xtreme Gaming as a substitute to temporarily take over the Pos 5 role.”

This temporary lineup shift follows Xtreme Gaming’s recent disappointing run at the Esports World Cup 2025’s Dota 2 tournament. The team finished 9th–12th, settling among the underdogs of the event, an underwhelming result for the all-star team, which was the only Chinese representative.

Poloson, a Singaporean player, has been on and off the XG roster, with his latest re-entry occurring in April this year. The team managed some decent results this season, securing a Top 8 placement at BLAST Slam III and a Top 6 finish at PGL Wallachia Season 5

With poloson stepping away to focus on his recovery, xNova–who is currently on the inactive roster of Azure Ray–will temporarily assume his responsibilities. The Malaysian player brings considerable experience and skill, being a Major winner and a multiple-time TI Top 3 finisher. He will reunite with Wang “Ame” Chunyu, his former teammate and lane partner with whom he achieved most success during their time on LGD Gaming (formerly PSG.LGD).

Notably, this roster shift comes ahead of the world championship, TI 2025, set to kick off on 4 September. It remains to be seen whether poloson will recover in time for the world title run or if xNova will continue to stand in for him.

Xtreme Gaming will field xNova at the Clavision Masters 2025: Snow-Ruyi

With over a month before TI begins, all eyes now turn to the next major tournament. XG will compete in the upcoming US$700,000 Clavision Masters, a high-profile Dota 2 series in China. The tournament, set to be held offline at the Bo Ao Indoor Stadium in Zhangjiakou, will feature several prominent global Dota 2 teams.

Alongside Chinese powerhouses Xtreme Gaming and All Gamers Global, the event will also feature European TI-qualified teams such as PARIVISION, Tundra Esports, Nigma Galaxy, Gaimin Gladiators, and BetBoom Team, as well as BOOM Esports from Southeast Asia.

Xtreme Gaming’s Dota 2 roster for the Clavision Masters 2025: Snow-Ruyi is as follows:

  1. Wang “Ame” Chunyu
  2. Hongcheng “Xm” Guo
  3. Jing “Xxs” Lin
  4. Zixing “XinQ” Zhao
  5. Jian Wei “xNova-” Yap (stand-in)
