Tottenham Hotspur now have to make a key decision on highly-rated youngster Mikey Moore, amid increasing interest from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.
Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to give youngsters a chance in recent years, as we saw Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall rise to prominence last season.
Mikey Moore was also handed some much-needed minutes in Postecoglou’s final season as Tottenham boss before his sacking, with Moore playing 19 times for Spurs’ first team in all competitions.
Two seasons ago, Moore became Tottenham’s youngest Premier League player, after coming off the bench in Spurs’ 2-0 defeat against Manchester City, at the age of 16 years, nine months and three days.
Borussia Dortmund interested in Tottenham winger Mikey Moore
The youngster’s talent is clear to see, and Tottenham midfielder James Maddison was quick to compare Moore to Neymar after his impressive display against AZ Alkmaar last term.
The 17-year-old, however, has been attracting interest from clubs in Europe, especially Borussia Dortmund, who have a track record of nurturing young English talent.
GIVEMESPORT are now reporting that Dortmund are set to test Tottenham Hotspur’s resolve to keep Moore this summer, as they are expected to try and lure the youngster away from Hotspur Way.
It is understood that Dortmund are looking to put in a bid for Moore, and their ability to offer him more first-team minutes than Tottenham could prove to be key as the teenager considers whether it is in his best interests to embark on a fresh challenge.
Juventus have also shown interest in Mikey Moore, and Damien Comolli could use his links with Spurs to lure Tottenham Hotspur’s gem to Turin.
Spurs want to keep Moore but a loan offer could arrive
Tottenham, however, are reported to be looking to tie Moore to a new contract, amid growing interest in his services this summer.
The Lilywhites may now have to decide whether to retain their young academy graduate or let him move abroad. It is said that Dortmund may be resigned to a loan offer for Moore, since Tottenham are unlikely to sanction a sale.
A move to Dortmund could interest the youngster, given the German side’s reputation for developing youngsters into world-class players.
It is claimed that higher-ups at Signal Iduna Park have held discussions with Moore’s representatives in an attempt to gauge whether he would be open to heading to Germany.
However, they have stopped short of entering talks with Tottenham at this stage and are said to be preparing their opening proposal for Moore.
