Thomas Frank handed minutes to a number of academy youngsters in Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Reading, but Spurs have plans to loan out a trio of starlets over the coming weeks.
Thomas Frank’s Tottenham Hotspur side is gradually taking shape ahead of the upcoming 2025/26 season.
The manager has already overseen the signing of three players under his watch, following the additions of Mathys Tel, Kota Takai and Mohammed Kudus.
A few departures have also been completed, with Tottenham making £18 million from the sales of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Josh Keeley.
Tottenham plan loans for George Abbott, Ashley Phillips and Yang Min-Hyeok
Not many Spurs fans agree with the sale of young goalkeeper Josh Keeley, with some supporters labelling the move a mistake.
However, with Tottenham currently possessing sufficient depth in that area of the pitch, and with Keeley not club-trained, there appears to be some logic behind the decision to move him on.
Several other players have their futures up in the air ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, and Football.London has now revealed Tottenham’s stance regarding George Abbott, Ashley Phillips and Yang Min-hyeok.
According to the outlet, Tottenham’s plan for Abbott this season has always been for him to head back out on loan to continue his development.
It is also understood that a departure also appears likely for both Ashley Phillips and Yang Min-hyeok at some point this summer.
Spurs set to loan out young trio for further development
George Abbott, 19, spent last season out on loan in the third tier of English football, with League Two side Notts County, where he scored five times and registered six assists in 40 league appearances.
With the teenager developing rapidly, Tottenham would be hoping they can secure a loan move to a side in a higher division, perhaps the Championship or League One.
Phillips also spent some time out on loan at Stoke City in the Championship, where he impressed. However, with Spurs already stacked with defenders, it is understandable why they are looking to loan him off.
Yang Min-hyeok did have an impressive loan spell at QPR in the Championship last term, with the winger grabbing two goals and an assist in 14 appearances. But he still needs to get used to the physicality of English football, making another loan move a good option.
