Nintendo eShop is losing as many as 70 games from a Japanese publisher in the coming months, according to new reports, with a large number of titles set to be delisted from the Switch marketplace.
The report claims that it will take effect this September, and this only gives less than two months for players to secure and play these titles before they get delisted from the platform.
The publisher did not exactly dive into the details behind its plans to delist a large number of titles on the Nintendo eShop, but it claimed that these would still be available to download and buy before it gets removed.
Nintendo eShop to Lose Around 70 Games
ComicBook Gaming’s latest report reveals that Nintendo’s eShop will lose around 70 Switch games, which are primarily digital titles. This is based on the latest announcement of Japanese publisher Entergram, which recently announced that they will no longer make their published games available on the Switch eShop.
That being said, Entergram claims that it will still extend user support to gamers who have purchased the title from the Switch eShop and want to continue playing the title after the delisting date. This means that players would still be able to download (via the Switch eShop after they purchased the game) and play the title beyond the delisting date, but the publisher did not reveal any end-of-support dates.
Entergram also revealed that around 34 additional titles would be transferred to other publishers who would continue the work they did for these games. Users may check the full list of games that Entergram will transfer to other publishers come October 1, so this means that select titles will still be available to purchase beyond the shutdown date.
Switch Games Delisting Is Coming This September
It was revealed by Entergram that its delisting date would be on September 30, giving fans and players a chance to still purchase the titles, especially those that would not be transferred to other publishers.
Starting September 30, players would no longer be able to buy the games from the Nintendo eShop, with the company also removing these titles from the PlayStation Store, affecting the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita consoles.
According to ComicBook Gaming’s report, this is the largest delisting done by a publisher in Nintendo’s history, and those that get removed entirely would be gone for good on the eShop.
Nintendo eShop Purge: Are You Affected?
The good news is that Entergram’s eShop purge will not be a global affair as only the Japanese Nintendo eShop is affected by their takedown of titles. Regions like North America, Europe, and more will still get access to the titles.
This delisting by Entergram affects the Switch and Switch 2 users in Japan as well as those who have an account that chose the Japanese region to get exclusive access to titles available.
