As Tottenham Hotspur step up talks over a move for Joao Palhinha, a new report has shed light on how much Bayern Munich are demanding for the midfielder this summer.
Spurs Web has relayed a number of reports over the last couple of weeks stating that Thomas Frank is keen on signing a top-class number six.
This development comes amidst suggestions that Spurs are now trying to offload Yves Bissouma, but the Mali international did feature in Tottenham’s pre-season friendly against Reading on Saturday.
A couple of days ago, it emerged that Tottenham had started fresh talks with Bayern Munich over Palhinha after exploring a move for the former Fulham man earlier this summer.
Tottenham can sign Joao Palhinha for a cut-price fee
Journalist Christian Falk has now confirmed on FC Bayern Insider that Palhinha will be allowed to leave the Allianz Arena this summer for the right fee.
He claims that the 30-year-old is open to returning to the Premier League this summer after struggling for game time at Bayern last season.
Falk asserts that even though Bayern paid £48m for the Portuguese international last summer, they would be ready to accept between €25m (£21.6m) and €30m (£25.9m) for him.
The journalist asserts that this fee is very much within Tottenham Hotspur’s budget as the Lilywhites continue to go in search of reinforcements for the base of their midfield.
Arsenal showed concrete interest in Palhinha
While reporting on Tottenham’s pursuit of the Bayern man, TBR Football claimed a couple of days ago that Arsenal had played down suggestions that they want Palhinha.
However, Falk confirms in his latest report that the Gunners did indeed make a concrete approach for the 30-year-old earlier this summer, but could not agree on a deal with Bayern.
Mikel Arteta’s men have since signed Christian Norgaard, who was also wanted by Tottenham, and it is thus unclear if Arsenal have called off their pursuit of Palhinha.
