Three major anime/gaming events are currently running this month, related to SEGA, Frieren, and Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX.
If you are visiting Tokyo, Japan, right now or planning to, some great anime opportunities have popped up in the past few weeks. Three major anime/gaming events are currently running this month, related to SEGA, Frieren, and Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX. SEGA Store Tokyo opened this past weekend; Dungeon ∞ Spiral began hosting a Frieren Beyond Journey’s End-themed full-body action RPG experience; and the Anime Tokyo Station is holding multiple Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX exhibits. Anime and gaming fans have plenty to look forward to.
SEGA Store Tokyo is the iconic publisher’s first official retail outlet in Japan. It opened on Friday, July 18th, on the sixth floor of Shibuya PARCO. The storefront is a culmination of over 60 years of iconic SEGA characters from franchises like Sonic, Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Persona, and more. Following the successful launch of SEGA Store Shanghai in May 2025, this flagship location marks a major milestone for the Tokyo-based video game publisher. Located in the heart of Japanese pop culture, SEGA Store Tokyo will offer a wide range of merchandise, including exclusive items and fan-favorite goods from SEGA and ATLUS.
Dungeon ∞ Spiral partnered with Frieren Beyond Journey’s End to provide a cutting-edge, full-body action RPG experience located inside Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, Shinjuku. Visitors team up in parties of 2-3 people, facing off against monsters, solving quests, and winning gold medals. Participants can choose one of four Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End characters—Frieren, Fern, Stark, or Himmel—as a Buddy Character (¥1,500, tax included). This limited-time event runs from July 18 (Fri) to September 23 (Tue/Holiday)—just in time for your summer anime adventure in Tokyo!

Here is a full list of the Frieren Beyond Journey’s End activations and activities:
- Exclusive merchandise, including collector’s sets and photo-worthy items
- Free digital photo spots and themed food & desserts throughout the building
- Full gameplay in English to welcome international visitors (Frieren characters speak in Japanese with English subtitles)
Anime Tokyo Station is an anime exhibition site dedicated to anime content, which has developed a devoted fan base worldwide. Under the motto, “Make ANIME more interesting, Bringing ANIME far into the future,” it regularly hosts special exhibitions for popular series and attracts 187,602 visitors (as of June 29, 2025) from both Japan and overseas. With the major theatrical release of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- and its series finished airing on Prime Video, new illustration cards are being added to the exhibit every few weeks. What is even better is that the admission fee is free!
It was decided that two new designs would be added to the illustration cards, which are distributed as an admission bonus. The second design is based on the teaser visual with an impressive back view of Nyaan looking up at MACHU and the GQuuuuuuX, and the third design features MACHU looking back, which is the iconic and pop key visual of the TV series. Why not try to complete the entire collection over summer vacation? Here is a list of the new design distribution periods going on right now, and upcoming:
- 2nd design: July 5 to July 25
- 3rd design: July 26 to August 11

There is still plenty of summertime fun to be had for the year, and so many events to check out in and around Tokyo. These three anime and gaming events are sure to entertain, especially if you are a dedicated fan of one or more of these worlds.
