Thomas Frank’s comment about Richarlison seems strange after pre-season absence

Thomas Frank has weighed in on whether Tottenham Hotspur are looking to make further additions to their attack and has thrown a big hint about whether Richarlison will stay or leave the club.

Tottenham Hotspur have added more firepower to their forward line this summer with the permanent signing of Mathys Tel and by securing Mohammed Kudus from West Ham.

We have heard from some sources that Spurs are also keen on landing Yoane Wissa, who Frank knows well from his time at Brentford.

Those rumours make sense in light of reports that Richarlison could be on his way out of Tottenham this summer, but Frank has now made a very interesting comment on a Brazilian.

Thomas Frank makes strange Richarlison decision after singing the praises of Tottenham striker

Over the last few days, some sources have suggested that Wissa is no longer a priority for Tottenham after they brought Kudus through the door.

Frank has now hinted at a lack of further additions to his forward line, admitting that he rates Richarlison highly. However, the Spurs boss then left Richarlison out of his pre-season squad to face Reading, adding fuel to rumours of a potential summer exit.

When asked about making further signings upfront, the former Brentford boss told Football.London: “I think the front three, four, depending on if we play with a 10 and a front three, with Dominic up there, I think Richarlison is a good striker, I know he’s been struggling with injuries, I think he was having a strong end to the season and was very important for the team to win the Europa League trophy.

“Brennan, Kulusevski, I know he’s out for a little bit of a while but he’s still there, Maddison, Odobert, Mathys Tel and now Kudus. I think that’s a strong, creative frontline and I’m 100 per cent sure we will score a lot of goals.”

Frank reveals if he wants players with Premier League experience

Reports have indicated that Frank has asked Tottenham to prioritise signing players with Premier League experience this summer.

That is certainly borne out by the club’s capture of Kudus and Tottenham’s efforts to get a deal for Morgan Gibbs-White over the line.

However, the Dane has now insisted that a lack of experience in the English top-flight is not a deal-breaker for him when assessing transfer targets.

He added: “I think it’s a plus to have Premier League experience, I don’t think it’s the most important [thing]. For me, when I look at a player, I think, is it a good player? The ability is most important. If it is a very good player, I don’t think he has a problem playing in the Premier League.

“I know it is very intense, very physical, but I don’t think any problems for any player to play here. Of course, different times in careers, things like that, but not the only thing we’re looking into.”
