Nottingham Forest send clear Morgan Gibbs-White message with pre-season decision

Nottingham Forest have sent Tottenham Hotspur a clear message about Morgan Gibbs-White as they take on Monaco in a pre-season friendly on Saturday afternoon.

A little over a week has gone by since Tottenham Hotspur triggered the £60 million release clause in Morgan Gibbs-White’s contract.

Still, the 25-year-old midfielder remains a Nottingham Forest player, despite reports that have claimed Tottenham Hotspur are confident of securing the signature of the former Wolves man before the end of the summer window.

Yesterday, Thomas Frank was questioned about the entire Gibbs-White transfer saga, but the Spurs boss chose not to comment on a player who is not currently with Tottenham.

Gibbs-White has since returned to Forest training and continues to remain very professional despite reports claiming that the midfielder wants a move to Spurs.

Gibbs-White missed last week’s pre-season friendly for Forest against Chesterfield because he had not yet returned for pre-season, but is now set to feature this week in Forest’s clash against Monaco at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest’s official account has now confirmed that Gibbs-White is not only part of the Forest squad set to take on Monaco this afternoon, but is even part of the starting XI.

Forest travel for their pre-season tour of Portugal on Monday, and it will be interesting to see whether Gibbs-White is seen boarding the plane.

What this means for Spurs and Gibbs-White

While this bodes well for Forest, Tottenham fans have been left frustrated by the entire saga, with many even calling for Spurs to look at other alternatives.

It is clear that the England midfielder is trying to depart Forest on good terms, instead of leaving on a sour note, given how he has handled the entire situation.

However, reports claim that Gibbs-White has asked for both clubs to resolve the issue before Nuno’s men travel to Portugal on Monday, which could hint at a big week for Tottenham next week.
