Donkey Kong Bananza releases on Switch 2, sparking hope for the new console

The popular Donkey Kong franchise just got a brand new game: Donkey Kong Bananza. The twist? People are saying it’s one of the greatest games Nintendo has ever released. This is also one of the first games released for the Switch 2, sparking hope that the console is about to provide gamers with top-tier video games.

Nintendo may put games out much slower than other consoles, but most of them end up getting insane ratings. I mean, just look at the Mario and Zelda series. Some still suggest that both of those franchises are the greatest ever to release.

Well, Donkey Kong seems not to be far behind.

Donkey Kong Bananza, the new open-world Donkey Kong game, has just been released for the Switch 2, and fans are going insane. In fact, IGN already rated the game a 10, calling it a masterpiece.

To be honest, I really never thought I would hear the words “masterpiece” and “Donkey Kong” in the same sentence, but here we are.

This is huge news for the Switch 2, however, as many have been skeptical about the system due to how expensive it is and the lack of games.

The Switch 2, which was released back at the beginning of June 2025, has gotten some hate from Nintendo fans, as the system is incredibly expensive and only released with Mario Kart and GameCube online.

With a console so expensive, many wished for a better title release. Look back at 2017 when the first Switch was released; its very first game was Breath of the Wild, which won Game of the Year. Fans were expecting another similar release.

Well, it seems like the console’s first masterpiece was not far behind, as Donkey Kong Bananza has been getting raved about by fans. The love for this game has now given many Nintendo fans hope that the console is going to provide fans with some exceptional titles throughout the coming years.
