Delays are building on country lanes after a notoriously dangerous A-road was closed this evening.
The A251 Ashford Road, which links Faversham and Ashford, is shut at Sheldwich in both directions.
Traffic monitoring expert Inrix says this is “due to a multi-vehicle accident between Newhouse Lane and Old Badgins Road”.
It has led to serious congestion in the nearby country lanes, many of which are only wide enough for one vehicle.
The area has been plagued by a string of serious and deadly crashes in recent years, leading to calls for the lowering of the 50mph speed limit.
Police and ambulance have been contacted for comment.
