It seems that TrimUI has a new retro gaming handheld in the works. Arriving in the wake of the TrimUI Brick Hammer, the so-called TrimUI Smart Pro Mini appears to adopt a smaller form factor than the existing Smart Pro to challenge the Anbernic RG40XX H and other circa 4-inch horizontal retro gaming handhelds.

Early details about a new TrimUI gaming handheld have emerged online, roughly a month after the company released the Brick Hammer globally. For the time being, only alleged patent images have turned up on Baidu, which we have embedded below. Nonetheless, they contain enough information to determine that we are not looking at the existing Smart Pro (curr. $86 on Amazon).

For instance, a smaller gap exists between the device’s controls. Thus, it looks like TrimUI has adopted a narrower display than the 4.96-inch panel found inside the Smart Pro. Consequently, there are suggestions that TrimUI could have switched to a circa 3.5-inch or 4-inch display.

If that were the case, then we might be looking at an Anbernic RG40XX H alternative. To that end, the unreleased TrimUI handheld has two joysticks, sculpted L2/R2 buttons, a relatively large d-pad and ABXY buttons arranged in Nintendo’s preferred layout.

Currently, TrimUI is expected to deliver the device pictured as the ‘Smart Pro Mini’ because of its familiar but more compact design. As a result, we would not be surprised if TrimUI returned to the Allwinner A133P chipset for another model, too. Unfortunately, there is no word on a release date yet.
