Troy’s newest, unique retail location Legendary Loot Gaming and Troy Antiques & Collectibles held its official ribbon cutting on July 16.
The store has been open for a little over a week and Legendary Loot Gaming owner Lewis Howard said the response to the retro game store has been outstanding.

“It’s been great,” he said with a smile. “The customer response has been awesome. They really, really wanted something like this in this area. The turnout has been great and we plan to keep going and hope to give gamers a place to call home.”
The antique side of the location has been picking up, as well.
“It’s been going pretty good,” Troy Antiques & Collectibles owner Jennifer Howard said. “We’ve been very, very busy. I think it was a little slower than I expected to begin with but word of mouth is getting out. I was closed on Sunday, picking in Eufaula, and Lewis said people were wanting to get into this side when he was open. So, I think word is getting out for sure.”
Lewis Howard said the response he’s gotten from customers has made him feel good.
“The reaction is what I was hoping for,” he said. “I had a customer walk in and he said, ‘Man, it feels like walking into Gamestop in 2005. I love this.’ He spent the next 45 minutes in silence, just walking around looking at everything. That was great to see.”
The unique setup of having an antique and thrift store connected to a retro video game store has had the desired effect, according to the couple.
“We feel like that’s a draw for us,” Jennifer Howard said. “We have women who come in to look around (the antique store) and the men will go into the game store and look around. That’s exactly what we were going for.”
Legendary Loot Gaming is currently offering a buy two, get one free deal on select games in the store. The store is open Wednesday through Friday from noon until 5 p.m., from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sundays. The store is located at 816 S. Three Notch Street in Troy, across from KFC.
