New Horror Game Stars Baldur’s Gate 3 and Clair Obscur Actors

Two popular actors from Baldur’s Gate 3 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 come together in a newly announced horror game project.

Dead Take Releases Late July, Announces More Cast Members

As revealed by Surgent Studios, Dead Take will be releasing on July 31, 2025. The game will debut for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. A twisty psychological horror title, Dead Take sees players visit a mysterious opulent mansion searching for their actor friend Vinny, who has seemingly disappeared after a party. Gameplay consists of a mix of solving escape room-inspired puzzles and splicing together video clips. The game’s story is drawn from creative director Abubakar Salim’s own experience as an actor, and features a stark portrayal of the dark side of the entertainment industry.

Previously, Ben Starr (Final Fantasy 16, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33) and Neil Newbon (Baldur’s Gate 3, Resident Evil Village) were announced to be playing the lead roles of Vinny Monroe and Chase Lowry respectively. Starr and Newbon will be joined by Jane Perry (Hitman, Baldur’s Gate 3) and Alanah Pearce (Cyberpunk 2077, V/H/S/Beyond), in currently unspecified roles.

In addition, several actors will appear in Dead Take in cameo roles, including Sam Lake, Matthew Mercer, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, and CDawgVA. Salim said of the cast: “Dead Take is about actors. So we need actors who’ve lived it. It’s a game about the high of ambition and the rot underneath it. The lies we tell ourselves to get in the spotlight, and the monsters we become to stay there. Everyone in this cast has felt that pressure. This was a chance to bleed it out.”

Along with the release date and cast announcement, Surgent Studios and Pocketpair Publishing revealed a new trailer for Dead Take. This trailer features a closer look at the puzzle-solving and clip-splicing mechanics, as well as a first glimpse at Perry’s role in the game. More information will be released in the future via Surgent Studios’ social media accounts and the official Dead Take Web site.
