The first season of the comedy series explored John Doe’s memory loss and his past before the apocalypse and the ending of Twisted Metal season 1 depicted the sinister Sweet Tooth surviving his car battle against Stu and Mike. Twisted Metal season 2 will undoubtedly explore the tournament core of the series, which fans of the video game franchise are eagerly anticipating.

Following a year-long hiatus, season 2 of Twisted Metal is set to debut on Peacock on July 31, 2025. In another improvement, the long-anticipated second season’s release schedule will be different from the first.

Season 1 Of Twisted Metal Was Released All At Once In 2023

The second season of Twisted Metal will span over 12 episodes, with the first three episodes being released on Peacock on July 31, 2025. The trailer for Twisted Metal season 2 shows that the impending second season will be just as thrilling and terrifying as the video game series and will see the debut of tournament host Calypso and explore his supernatural powers.

Following the release of the first three episodes on July 31, 2025, Peacock will release two new episodes of Twisted Metal each week between August 7 and August 21, with the final three episodes set for release on August 28. The weekly release schedule for Twisted Metal season 2 is a significant change from season 1’s schedule.

All 10 episodes of Twisted Metal season 1 were released on the same day on Peacock on July 27, 2023. As per Deadline, Twisted Metal quickly became one of Peacock’s most-streamed original series in recent years. The release schedule for Twisted Metal is a big change, but could result in new streaming records being broken on the streaming service.

Why More Shows On Streaming Are Adopting The Weekly Release

It Could Lead To Longer Interest In Each TV Series

In recent years, more shows released on streaming services are reverting to the weekly release schedule, rather than releasing all episodes at once. Shows such as Bridgerton and Stranger Things had previously experimented with different release schedules, having split their later seasons into two parts. The upcoming Wednesday season 2 will also be split into two parts, in anticipation of the upcoming Halloween season.

Twisted Metal Season 2’s Axel Teases Makes Me Confident That The Show Will Do The Character Justice

Twisted Metal season 2’s trailer teased the introduction of Axel, and I’m certain they’ll do the character justice when the show returns to Peacock.

The decision for shows such as Wednesday and Twisted Metal to move onto weekly release schedules will benefit the series’ success on their streaming platforms. Weekly release of episodes across a period of time will help improve audience engagement with the show and increase the anticipation for future storylines, which will help heighten the explosive action expected in Twisted Metal season 2.

A weekly release schedule will also make potential cliffhangers in different episodes more exciting and give viewers a chance to theorize what will happen next. It will also guarantee longer-term investment in different shows and allow viewers the opportunity to rewatch previous episodes, further increasing viewership ratings. This small change to Twisted Metal season 2 will potentially guarantee greater viewing success than season 1.
