Alasdair Gold has revealed that there is one major problem that Tottenham Hotspur are now facing regarding Morgan Gibbs-White, even though the expectation is that they will eventually get their hands on the midfielder.
Spurs fans will be aware by now that Nottingham Forest have officially filed a legal complaint against Tottenham for approaching their midfielder without their permission.
This came after Spurs activated Gibbs-White’s £60m release clause last week, which was supposed to be confidential. Forest are furious that the confidential release clause was leaked to Tottenham.
According to reports, Forest are determined to make the Gibbs-White deal difficult for Spurs, even though they might not ultimately be able to stop the transfer from going through.
Uncertainty over how Tottenham can resolve Morgan Gibbs-White standoff
Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has now revealed that the situation has become a legal matter between the two clubs, and although Forest have not officially complained to the Premier League, the league has a duty to look into any claims made about a club.
Gold says that the expectation among many is that Gibbs-White’s move to Tottenham will go through, but there is one major problem.
There is uncertainty over how the issue can get resolved as Forest have completely cut off communication with Spurs right now, with the Midlands club insisting that the 25-year-old is not for sale.
As there is no timeframe for potential legal resolutions, it appears that Tottenham Hotspur are now in a bit of a limbo regarding their next step.
What can Spurs do to push through Gibbs-White deal?
As Spurs Web has previously covered, several journalists have pointed out that Tottenham can resolve the issue by making an improved offer for Gibbs-White.
However, with Gold stating that Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are refusing to even speak to the Lilywhites, a new offer appears out of the picture at the moment.
It has been claimed by The Daily Mail that Forest initially tried to resolve the Gibbs-White issue amicably with Tottenham before deciding to launch a legal battle against their Premier League rivals.
Perhaps Daniel Levy and the Spurs hierarchy may regret not reaching a compromise with the Midlands side, now that they appear desperate to do all they can to stop the player from moving to N17.
