Tom Holland reveals how Tottenham helped him crush a scene in Chris Nolan’s new movie

Tom Holland has revealed that he was shooting a movie in Los Angeles when the Europa League final was on and admitted that he is particularly over the moon for Heung-min Son, given the loyalty that he has shown to Tottenham.

A whole generation of Spurs fans had never seen their side lift a trophy, with the club’s last piece of silverware coming all the way back in 2008.

That includes Hollywood star Tom Holland, a well-publicised die-hard Spurs fan, who unfortunately, could only watch the final moments of the Lilywhites’ clash at Bilbao as he was busy shooting a film.

The Spiderman star has opened up on how he followed the final and has made an admission on the future of the Tottenham Hotspur captain.

Tom Holland says Tottenham gave him energy before a big scene

Holland admitted that he kept asking the members of the film crew for score updates as he was not allowed to have his phone on the set during the Europa League final.

When asked where he was when his beloved Tottenham broke their 17-year trophy drought, he told GQ: “I was shooting Chris Nolan’s movie in LA. We were not allowed our phones on set, so I was not aware of the score. I kept going to the sneaky crew members who I knew always had their phones and kept asking them for updates.

“I went to my trailer for lunch and caught the last 10 minutes of the game, and my celebration was coming back to set full of energy and doing a really fantastic scene. So that was really fun.”

While a few reports have said that Heung-min Son is likely to leave Tottenham summer, over the last week, some sources have claimed that the Spurs captain has decided to stay for the new project under Thomas Frank.

Holland believes that whatever decision the 33-year-old makes this summer, he will always be a legend at N17.

Asked about seeing Son proudly hoist the trophy at San Mames, he responded: “I was incredibly happy for Sonny [Son Heung-min]. For me to see him win a trophy after years of dedication to our club. He really could have played with any club; he’s a world-class player.

“But he stuck with his roots, and he stayed with Tottenham. Whatever he decides to do now, I think that he can stay at the club or move to another club with a great sense of pride. He’ll always be a Tottenham legend.”

Tom Holland was sad to see the back of Ange Postecoglou

Many Spurs fans were disappointed to see Ange Postecoglou sacked as they felt he deserved an opportunity to build on the Europa League success.

Holland admitted that he too was sad to see the back of the Australian, confessing that he made him proud to support Spurs by delivering the silverware that he had promised.

When asked what he thought about Tottenham’s decision to sack the 59-year-old, he said: “It’s bittersweet with Ange. I’m sad to see him go.

“I really liked him and admired him as a manager. I think obviously we had a very rocky season, we dealt with a lot of injuries and all sorts of different stuff. But to win a trophy in his second season as he said he would, in Europe nonetheless, is a huge achievement. And I just was really proud to be a Tottenham fan.”
