A town centre soft play has closed suddenly due to reported lease issues.
Cheeky Dino, based in St Peter’s Street, Maidstone, has shut with “immediate effect”.
The 13,000 sq ft children’s activity centre has play frames, slides, a sensory room, an artificial football pitch, and a cafe. It is also a popular venue for birthday parties.
But in an email to one customer yesterday, the company said: “I am afraid that your party booking will not be going ahead.
“This is due to the landlord terminating our lease with immediate effect.
“We have been closed down and are no longer able to operate. We realise that this is a huge inconvenience, but the matter was taken out of our hands.
“We are extremely sorry for this news and the disappointment this will bring.
I’m devastated because my son was also supposed to have his birthday there
“We will be closing the company and attempting to reimburse anything we can once the closure has been completed”.
A sign has also reportedly been put up at the door stating: “Please do not enter this unit without the landlord’s approval”.
In 2023, the centre, which was previously owned by Play Centres Limited, filed for administration.
It was then taken on by new owners.
The soft play has been approached for more information.
The closure has sparked a mixed reaction on social media.
“What about the deposit you paid?” asked one Facebook user.
“I’m devastated because my son was also supposed to have his birthday there, and I paid a deposit.”
Another added: “Oh, that’s such a shame, my little one loved it there.”
