The Bullet Bill is a powerful weapon that can help a player take the lead in Mario Kart World, but one unlucky racer unleashed it at the worst possible time and ended up in a poor position for it. Now that Mario Kart World has been out for a little over a month, gamers have been sharing interesting clips from their high-speed misadventures across social media.

Many of these Mario Kart World clips involve a player misusing a normally helpful item with disastrous results, such as the dreaded Bullet Bill. First introduced in 2005’s Mario Kart DS, the Bullet Bill transforms its user into a fast-flying projectile that charges around the track, knocking over any opponents unlucky enough to be in its path. The Bullet Bill is considered to be one of the most powerful items in Mario Kart World, and can often be used to turn the tide of a race, at least when the player times it right.

Mario Kart World brought back many of the series’ most prominent items, and one of them is just as bad as it has always been.

If the player times it incorrectly, it could lead to a disastrous scenario such as the one Reddit user chumptim recently shared in a short video clip on r/mariokart. They were 18th on the Dino Dino Jungle course in Mario Kart World when they acquired the Bullet Bill power-up. Hoping to turn their fortunes around, they activated the item and went charging across the track, straight into the path of a roaming dinosaur. Instead of being knocked over like other racers and obstacles, the massive prehistoric beast simply blocked the Bullet Bill in its tracks, leaving chumptim in essentially the same position they were in once the power-up wore off.

Dinosaurs Can Derail Bullet Bills in Mario Kart World

Other players have shared their own mistimed uses of a Bullet Bill in Mario Kart World, be they encounters with that same triceratops or getting stuck by a Thwomp on Mario Kart World’s unlockable Rainbow Road track. In response to one Reddit user, chumptim joked that they thought the Bullet Bill would kill the dinosaur like in 1998’s Carnivores, but it seems prehistoric creatures are a bit more durable in Mario Kart World.

So far, Mario Kart World has proven itself to be a successful launch title for the new Nintendo Switch 2 console, so fans should expect to see more fun clips of racers being caught off guard by roaming dinosaurs or other obstacles in the future. These clips can also be a useful learning tool for other Mario Kart World players who would do well to avoid firing a Blue Shell or Bullet Bill at the wrong time during an intense Grand Prix or Knockout Tour race.
