Call of Duty: WW2 has reportedly become one of the top 10 most-played games on Xbox following its recent addition to Game Pass. Call of Duty: WW2 was added to Microsoft’s subscription service on July 30 and was immediately met with a positive response from subscribers on Xbox.
The PC version of the game, however, hasn’t been as fortunate. One of the issues plaguing Call of Duty: WW2 on PC is the rampant hacking. The problem has become so severe that PC players are now urging others to avoid the game until Activision addresses it. Nevertheless, the console version appears to be doing incredibly well, reaching an impressive milestone shortly after its Game Pass release.

Why FPS Fans Shouldn’t Sleep on this Divisive New Xbox Game Pass Addition
A new addition to the Xbox Game Pass roster proved controversial at launch, but has since grown into a much stronger experience.
According to TrueAchievements, recent stats show that Call of Duty: WW2‘s player count on Xbox has surged by over 1,000%. The eight-year-old title has already broken into the top 10 most-played games on the platform, sitting alongside newer entries like Black Ops 6. The same can’t be said for the PC version, where players are still dealing with widespread hacking issues. The good news is that Activision might address Call of Duty: WW2‘s hacking problem soon. If that happens, the game could see a similar spike in popularity on PC.
Call of Duty: WW2 Is Now the 9th Most-Played Xbox Game
According to TrueAchievements, before WW2 launched on Game Pass, it ranked 163rd in popularity on Xbox. Now, it ranks ninth, alongside some of the latest Xbox releases. This could be seen as a clear sign that the platform is hungry for more classic Call of Duty titles, especially ones with functional multiplayer.
One interesting detail that recently surfaced about WW2 is that it was originally supposed to feature a battle royale mode. Leaked footage revealed that long before the release of Call of Duty: Warzone, Sledgehammer Games had plans to add a battle royale mode to Call of Duty: WW2, but it was ultimately scrapped for undisclosed reasons. The franchise later explored the mode with Black Ops 4‘s Blackout, which eventually paved the way for Warzone.
Call of Duty: WW2‘s strong performance on Game Pass could be great news for FPS-enthusiast subscribers. Now that Microsoft owns Activision, and with recent Call of Duty titles all doing well on the service, it’s likely that more entries from the franchise will make their way to Game Pass. In the coming days, it’ll be interesting to see which other classic Call of Duty games join the lineup.
