Betray or Be Betrayed in Co-op Horror Game ‘LockYourDoor’ This October

More co-op horror gaming is coming your way, thanks to solo developer Mert Çağlayan‘s LockYourDoor. Originally teased this past February with a demo during Steam Next Fest (which is still very much available), LockYourDoor will be launching this October on Steam.

Described as “[blending] survival tension with the psychological dread of being betrayed by your friends,” LockYourDoor is a 1-4 player co-op title that has you and your friends entering a haunted mansion to find your missing friend, Darvin, who is obsessed with cursed books. Featuring a day/night cycle, as players explore their surroundings, you’ll uncover a new clue left by Darvin, which will be the key to your survival.

Each day cycle in LockYourDoor is unique and brings new threats, testing your ability to adapt. Adding to the complexity of the gameplay are the various keys scattered around the mansion for different rooms. These keys can be used to lock or unlock certain doors, keeping dangers outside, or trapping these same dangers in a room with your friends. The monsters that you’ll face each have their own characteristics, strengths and weaknesses, requiring different strategies for each of them.

As time passes, more threats will emerge and your limited daylight will fade even faster. To stay alive, you’ll need to make strategic decisions. Players will also need to exercise caution, as each footstep or each action makes a sound and might attract unwanted attention. You’ll also be using in-game proximity voice chat to communicate, making your moves even more calculated.

LockYourDoor offers a several different iems during gameplay, each with unique purposes. These include manipulating time and the monsters, protecting other players and unlocking shortcuts. Both the items and key locations are highly randomized, ensuring no two sessions are ever the same.
