Bayern Munich look to raid Arsenal for Luis Diaz alternative as new Harry Kane partner

Bayern Munich have reportedly got another Premier League star in their crosshairs should they fail to land Luis Diaz.

The Liverpool star is at the top of the German giants’ transfer wish list as they look to strengthen at left wing.

However, the Reds are reluctant to lose the Colombian international and have thus far indicated he is not for sale.

It means Bayern may have to look elsewhere and one report claims they have done just that.

According to BILD, the reigning Bundesliga champions are interested in Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard.

The report claimed Trossard is ‘one of the candidates’ should they be unable to sign Diaz.

talkSPORT understands that Liverpool’s stance on Diaz is that he is not for sale and will not engage in any talks.

A key boost in Bayern’s pursuit is the fact Trossard switched agents earlier in July and is now being represented by German agent and former Brentford midfielder Dirk Hebel.

Trossard is nominally a left winger, but he showed his versatility by featuring as the focal point of the Gunners’ attack 17 times last term amid injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz.

The 30-year-old finished the 2024/25 campaign with 10 goals and 10 assists from 56 appearances across all competitions.

However, 19 of those came as substitutes.

Given Trossard’s contract expires next June, Arsenal may be tempted to cash in on the Belgian now rather than lose him for a reduced fee in January or for free at the end of the season

Trossard arrived at the Emirates from Brighton in January 2023 and proved to be an instant hit.

Although he bagged just one goal in his first six months for the Gunners, Trossard recorded an impressive ten assists, seven of which came in the space of just six league games.

Trossard flipped the script on his goal contributions in his first full season with Arsenal as he netted a commendable 12 goals from 34 league appearances.

In total, Trossard has registered 28 goals and 23 assists from 124 games for Arsenal.

Should a move to Bayern eventuate, Trossard would add to what is already a fearsome attacking unit at the club

Vincent Kompany’s side finished 13 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga last term and scored 99 goals, 27 more than runners-up Bayer Leverkusen.

English superstar Harry Kane contributed a whopping 26 goals to the cause, a tally which earned him the Bundesliga’s golden boot for a second year running having scored an incredible 36 times in the preceding campaign.

Despite the club’s vast goal haul, Bayern are in need of reinforcements at left wing having lost Mathys Tel and Leroy Sane this summer.

Sane departed on a free transfer to Turkish giants Galatasaray while Tel made his loan move to Tottenham permanent, as the Frenchman became the first signing under new Spurs boss Thomas Frank.

Trossard’s experience will also be seen as a key attribute given Bayern will bid farewell to club legend Thomas Muller at the end of July.

Bayern opted against offering the 35-year-old a new deal, meaning Muller could play for another club for the first time in his entire career.
