Former Premier League centre-back Anton Ferdinand has made a claim about Tottenham’s acquisition of Mohammed Kudus, and about how the winger would have done at Arsenal.
After more than a month of heavy speculation, where Tottenham were linked with the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Eberechi Eze and Antonine Semenyo, the Lilywhites have finally managed to get a big-name attacker through the door.
Spurs have opted to sign Mohammed Kudus from West Ham for £55m, with the winger becoming the first player to move from the Hammers to N17 since Scott Parker in 2011.
Tottenham Hotspur fans are understandably excited about the arrival of the Ghanaian, who can play as a number ten or on either flank, thus leaving Thomas Frank spoilt for options upfront.
Anton Ferdinand believes Arsenal should have signed Mohammed Kudus
In the days before Spurs completed the signing, it was reported that Chelsea were looking to hijack Tottenham’s move for Kudus.
Some sources even claimed that Arsenal were keen on landing Kudus, but in the end, according to Fabrizio Romano, Kudus had his heart set on a move to Spurs.
The Gunners are now pushing ahead with a move for Chelsea’s Noni Madueke instead, but Ferdinand believes that the Ghana international would have been a better off signing for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Speaking about Kudus’ arrival at Tottenham, the former West Ham centre-back told GiveMeSport: “He’d be on fire in the Arsenal team. I think he does better in that Arsenal team than Madueke and players like that.”
Tottenham expect Thomas Frank to work his magic on Kudus
According to reports, the Tottenham decision-makers expect Thomas Frank to turn Kudus into a ‘world star’, given how the likes of Bryan Mbeumo developed under him at Brentford.
That is why Fabio Paratici, who is said to be an admirer of Kudus, was said to be extremely keen to bring the 24-year-old to Hotspur Way.
The fact that Kudus only had his eye on a move to Tottenham suggests that the winger was sold by Frank’s vision for him at N17.
