The hit shooter Battlefield 1 is available for the extremely low price of $2 USD as part of a limited-time sale, provided players have a subscription to Xbox Game Pass. Launched in 2016, Battlefield 1 took the iconic multiplayer shooter series to the battlefields of World War 1.
Ever since its inception, the Battlefield series has garnered affection from its fans thanks to its massive scale and focus on combined-arms combat and realistic-feeling warfare. That said, the series has had its ups and downs, and the lukewarm reception to 2021’s Battlefield 2042 has players looking forward to the eventual release of Battlefield 6, or whatever its official title turns out to be. But if Battlefield 2042 is considered by some fans to be a lower point, 2016’s Battlefield 1 is seen as one of the best Battlefield games ever, thanks to its novel World War 1 setting and its focus on multiple different stories from a time period that was unusual for shooters at the time.

Battlefield 6’s biggest competitor should be Call of Duty, but there’s one even bigger hurdle standing in its way before it can resume the rivalry.
As highlighted on Reddit, players can now pick up Battlefield 1 for the extremely low price of $1.99 USD, as part of the ongoing Xbox Summer Sale 2025. The pricing represents a nearly 90% discount from its standard price of $19.99 USD, and is exclusive to Xbox Game Pass subscribers. The discount matches earlier major price drops for the game, such as a March 2025 Steam spring sale that saw the game hit $1.99 on PC.
Battlefield 1 Goes For 90% Off in Massive Xbox Game Pass Summer Sale
Consistent price drops via sales lower the barrier to entry for Battlefield 1, attracting waves of new players that can keep servers full and the existing population engaged. As a result, Battlefield 1 has maintained a steady and loyal player base, despite being nearly a decade old at this point. Thousands of players play the game on Steam alone, with many more across Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The recent transition of Battlefield 1 to EA Anticheat has also helped mitigate the problem of cheaters, making the game experience more pleasant for those trying the game for the first time out of curiosity.
The sight of Battlefield 1 on sale isn’t surprising considering its age, but it’s encouraging to see that the game is still played regularly. Many fans hail it as one of the best World War 1 titles ever made, even if its story tends to focus more on drama than strict historical accuracy. Recent interviews about Battlefield 6‘s development also let slip that Battlefield 1 was arguably the most popular game in the whole Battlefield series in terms of lifetime player count, serving as a testament to the game’s longevity.
