Astro Bot, the critically-acclaimed 3D platformer for PS5 and 2024 Game of the Year winner, continues to receive brand-new content at absolutely no cost to the consumer. Team Asobi’s previous work on the franchise meant that many expected Astro Bot to be a great game, but it’s safe to say that few expected it to solidify itself as 2024’s highest-rated new game release and win the coveted Game of the Year award at The Game Awards 2024.
Astro Bot earned universal acclaim and won more than just Game of the Year at the 2024 Game Awards. Astro Bot also took home the awards for Best Game Direction, Best Action-Adventure Game, and Best Family Game. Far and away one of the best pure PlayStation 5 exclusives released to date, Astro Bot is easily one of the top games on Sony’s platform.

Fans who missed out on one of the most unique DualSense controllers for the PS5 will soon have a second chance to bring one home.
Considering the dizzying success Astro Bot has enjoyed, Team Asobi could have simply moved on to its next project. Instead, the studio has continued to release new content updates for Astro Bot, adding fresh levels to the game completely free of charge. All the Astro Bot DLC has been free, adding new speedrun levels to the game, a new Christmas-themed level, and 10 new challenge levels. These post-launch additions have increased the number of levels in Astro Bot to over 90. While other games would have charged players for the privilege of playing new levels, Astro Bot DLC has cost $0 so far.
Astro Bot is the Gift That Keeps on Giving
The latest batch of Astro Bot levels were announced at the June 2025 PlayStation State of Play and added to the game on Thursday, July 10. They were revealed a whopping four months after the previous levels were distributed, so it’s always possible that even more levels could be announced for the beloved game. But even if no new Astro Bot levels are added, the game has given players their money’s worth and then some.
Some fans may want Team Asobi to focus its efforts on its next project instead of continuing to release new levels for Astro Bot, which is understandable. Team Asobi’s next game has not been announced, but since the studio has worked exclusively on the Astro franchise, it’s a safe bet that it will be a sequel. Alternatively, Sony has already started talking about the PlayStation 6, and maybe Team Asobi is working on an Astro’s Playroom follow-up for the new console. It’s anyone’s guess at this point, but in the meantime, Astro Bot fans can try to master the latest levels added to the game.
