Tottenham instantly address one major concern around Mohammed Kudus

James Maddison and Tottenham brilliantly addressed the elephant in the room following the £55million signing of Mohammed Kudus.

The Ghanaian penned a six-year contract with the north London club this week following a two-year spell with West Ham.

He is the first player West Ham have sold to Tottenham since Scott Parker’s move across the capital in 2011.

The deal represents a key piece of business for new boss Thomas Frank who is aiming to bolster the club’s attacking options.

Kudus registered 13 goals and 12 assists in the Premier League during his time at the London Stadium with one of his strikes coming in the Hammers’ 4-1 defeat against Tottenham last October.

And it was in that match that the 24-year-old was sent off late in the match for lashing out at the faces of both Micky van de Ven and Pape Sarr.

The incident earned Kudus a whopping five-match ban.

However, just nine months on from the skirmish, Kudus joined forces with Van de Ven and Sarr as Tottenham teammates and Maddison took the perfect opportunity to tease the Dutch defender.

Maddison reacted to the signing by posting a video on his Instagram account alongside the caption: “Micky, you alright this morning mate?”

The clip shows the Dutchman sitting across the table from Maddison. But when he moves his camera to the right, Kudus is seen sitting at a nearby table.

An edited video of last season’s melee is then played before Maddison pans in on Van de Ven once again.

The England international is subsequently heard asking if he’s ‘alright’.

Tottenham themselves jumped on a viral TikTok trend to show both players shaking hands.

Even if the initial meeting of the players was mildly awkward, at least the club can rest assured that the pair can enjoy a spot of lunch together without any repeat of last season’s handbags.

Kudus’ move across London in Tottenham’s third signing of the summer window so far.

Frank’s side have wrapped up the permanent signing of Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich following his loan spell at the club last season.

Tottenham have also welcomed promising Japanese defender Kota Takai who arrived at the club last week for £5m.

Spurs were hoping to tie up a deal for Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White on Friday.

But as it stands, the deal is off after Forest reported Spurs to the Premier League for making an illegal approach for the player.

The Midlands club have threatened to sue Spurs after claiming they tapped up the England international.

The Premier League are set to investigate Spurs’ actions with Forest having already cut all communication with the north London club.
