Mohammed Kudus is now officially a Tottenham Hotspur player and Richarlison welcomed him by reminding him of what happened between him and Micky van de Ven in last year’s London derby.
There is no love lost between the Hammers and Spurs, which is why only five players have moved from West Ham to Tottenham in 22 years before Kudus.
The Ghana international is the first player to make the move from the East London club to N17 in 14 years, and Kudus’ move to Spurs has certainly riled up the West Ham fans.
The antagonism between the two clubs was in evidence during the London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last year, with Kudus being sent off after losing his head.
Richarlison reminds Mohammed Kudus of his confrontation with Tottenham players
The winger left a foot in on Micky van de Ven after going in for a challenge, and when the Dutch defender took offence to that, Kudus shoved him and Pape Sarr in the face.
It was essentially three red card offences in a space of seconds, with VAR having no choice but to ask the referee to send off the former West Ham man.
Richarlison has certainly not forgotten that and he reminded Tottenham’s latest signing of what happened in October of last year.
Here is what the Tottenham striker posted on Instagram after Kudus’ move was made official:
Why Richarlison will sympathise with Kudus given his previous with Cristian Romero
Just like Mohammed Kudus with Van de Ven this summer, Richarlison himself had an awkward first meeting with Cristian Romero when the striker arrived at Tottenham three years ago.
The Argentine and the Brazilian had more than their fair share of nasty confrontations and on-field battles for both club and country before they became teammates.
On that occasion, the Spurs players diffused the tension during the pair’s first meeting by cheering when Romero and Richarlison shook hands for the first time, leading to the pair bursting into laughter.
