Nottingham Forest fans furious with Morgan Gibbs-White to Tottenham deal, but legal delay gives them hope

The mood over at Nottingham Forest is anything but cheerful as Tottenham wait to see whether their Morgan Gibbs-White deal will actually go through.

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has often received a lot of stick from fans of the Lilywhites, who have rightfully criticised his footballing decisions and lack of investment in matters on the pitch.

However, this summer window, Spurs fans have been treated right by the club’s hierarchy, especially in the last 24 hours, with Tottenham splashing the cash on two Premier League-proven stars.

This Spurs squad is filled with young, exciting talents and what it has been crying out for is experience, which is now being addressed as Mohammed Kudus is now a Tottenham player, while Morgan Gibbs-White was set to undergo his Spurs medical until a bizarre turn of events.

It turns out that despite Tottenham triggering Gibbs-White’s £60m release clause, Forest have brought the whole deal to a standstill as they believe Spurs made an ‘illegal approach’ to their player.

As such, the Tricky Trees want to make a complaint to the Premier League and possibly seek legal action, which is why they consider the Gibbs-White to Tottenham deal off for the time being.

Nottingham Forest fans fume at Morgan Gibbs-White to Tottenham transfer

The 25-year-old did impress during his time at the City Ground, scoring seven times and assisting ten in the Premier League last term, and would, of course, be a big miss for the Conference League side.

However, Forest fans have taken to social media to voice their frustrations at losing Gibbs-White, who they believe is irreplaceable. Of course, many of them will now be hoping that Nottingham Forest win their legal tug-of-war and end up keeping the England international.

One fan said: “Elanga is replaceable. Not easily, granted, but replaceable. Same CANNOT be said for Gibbs-White. He’s the quarterback, the engine, we cannot lose him.”

Another added: “Apologies to all Wolves fans. You were correct when you said Gibbs-White was a snake.”

On the theme of the versatile midfielder being irreplaceable, a third fan commented: “People can say he is, and try their hardest to make a case for it and reel off names until they are blue in the face. But Gibbs-White is irreplaceable. You are naive if you think he is. And you can try and argue he is just to be different. He is the best player at the club.”

One supporter dreaded the fact that it is to Spurs they are losing their talisman: “Losing Gibbs-White to Spurs genuinely feels like going through a break-up. You just know you will go no contact for months, before inevitably crossing paths when they have gone up a level. Absolutely brutal.”

Another chimed in, stating that he has always wanted to see a few past Forest stars play together: “I always wanted to see Spence, Johnson and Gibbs-White in the same team together.”

One more believes that Gibbs-White himself is open to joining Tottenham: “By the way, the only way deals do not happen nowadays is if the player says no. Gibbs-White clearly wants the move, and if that is the case then goodbye. Do not care if you are the best or worst player at the club, if you do not want to be here then go. Simple as.”

While a final fan commented: “I will tell you something for free. If we have to come up against a Tottenham team made up of Brennan Johnson, Djed Spence and Morgan Gibbs-White, I am fighting Daniel Levy to the death.”

Spurs still active in the market after Morgan Gibbs-White deal

Spurs’ transfer business is expected to continue in the coming weeks, even if they land Gibbs-White, as reports have it that Tottenham still retain interest in Yoane Wissa.

Tottenham have also received further good news elsewhere, as reports claim that Atletico Madrid are not pushing ahead in their pursuit of Cristian Romero after months of monitoring the Tottenham man.

Daniel Levy could show more ambition by tying their World Cup winner to a new deal, which would leave the Lilywhite faithful over the moon.
