Frictional Games announced way back in January their intention to bring SOMA and the remaining Amnesia titles to the Nintendo Switch. SOMA will be the first out of the gate, as Abylight Studios and Frictional have announced a July 24th release date. And for Switch 2 owners, the game will be compatible with the new handheld.
Originally released for PC via Steam way back in 2015, SOMA will arrive on Nintendo’s console in a “complete and optimized version,” ensuring that the game gets the maximum performance from the system.
SOMA sees players dive headfirst into PATHOS-II, a desolate underwater research facility where the lines between human and machine blur. As you explore the eerie, submerged corridors under the Atlantic Ocean, you’ll be thrust into a fight for survival against a hostile world that forces you to confront the very nature of consciousness and what it truly means to be human. Renowned for its profound narrative and unsettling atmosphere, SOMA has earned a formidable Metacritic score of 84, cementing its place as a genre-defining psychological thriller. We didn’t think it was too bad of a game, either.
In addition to PC and the Switch, SOMA is also available for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.
